Boat and Marine Insurance
| Whether docked in the marina or out in open waters, boats are susceptible to the damages from inclement weather, reckless drivers, and any number of unexpected accidents, which can damage your precious watercraft beyond repair. It only stands to reason that you'd want to keep your boat and its passengers protected with quality insurance plans designed to help you weather the storm with confidence. |

Total Loss Replacement
Total Loss Replacement coverage replaces the current boat with a new boat that is, to the greatest extent possible, the same make and model and that contains comparable equipment. If such a boat is not available, a comparative boat that is five model years old or less will be substituted.
Specialized Coverage's
Watercraft insurance coverage's go beyond the scope of a standard homeowners policy to include:
- Roadside Assistance, which covers towing of your boat or personal watercraft for free, as long as your trailer is covered.
- On-Water Towing, in case you're stranded on the water.
- Fuel Spill Liability and Wreckage Removal coverage. Without these watercraft insurance coverage's, you may end up getting stuck with the bill for cleanups and removals.
- Personal Effects and Fishing Equipment coverage's are also available.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn’t my homeowner’s policy a good place to insure my boat?
Many people choose to insure their boats on their homeowner’s policy. However, homeowner’s policies typically only provide minimal boat insurance coverage. For example, your homeowner’s policy may not include specialized coverage's, such as Total Loss Replacement, Personal Effects or Fuel Spill Coverage.
How much should I insure my boat for?
Usually you should insure it for the purchase price plus additional equipment (and tax if you want).
Who is allowed to operate my boat?
Most policies will allow anyone to operate your boat so long as you've given them permission. There are a few exceptions, of course, especially with high performance boats or personal watercraft.
What are the differences between boat and yacht insurance?
Generally "boats" are considered to be 26' and smaller, and "yachts" are 27' and larger. Yacht coverage is typically broader and more specialized because larger boats travel further and have more unique exposures.
