December 2016 – San Diego Rescue Mission & Urban Angels
December 2016 – Urban Angels
Urban Angels is a non-profit agency whose mission is to feed San Diego homeless.
Located at 1250 6th Avenue, this agency provides 3 meals each day for residents of Connections Housing. Connections Housing Residents are provided with 120 days of financial, social, medical, and job training means to get their lives back on track.
10 TIS Team volunteers were met by Michael, of Urban Angels, and another 9 community volunteers. Volunteers were charged to heat, prepare and serve 100 Connections residents. At one point, during the meal, the residents requested volunteers sing Christmas Carols, and we happily obliged! Combining efforts with Urban Angels allowed team volunteers the opportunity to connect with various residents and leave the center feeling satisfied in their community contribution. It was truly a wonderful experience we hope to share again in the years to come.
December 2016 – San Diego Rescue Mission
Founded in 1955, the San Diego Rescue Mission believes in “the inherent worth of every homeless man, woman, and child. Our mission is to spread the good news of salvation through Christ by serving the needs of the poor, addicted, abused, and homeless, thus improving the quality of their lives.”
The Insurance Store had the privilege of volunteering at The San Diego Rescue Mission’s Christmas Party held December 10, 2016 in downtown San Diego. The party was held for the graduates and alumni of their rehabilitation program. The parents enjoyed a holiday dinner, music, fellowship and an opportunity to Christmas shop for their child at The Rescue Mission children’s store located within the center. The time shared with these individuals was truly rewarding as each one of them were so grateful and thankful for our help. We were grateful for this amazing opportunity to connect and help these wonderful people who have turned their lives around to better themselves and the lives of their children.
